Inspirations never go in for long engagements; they demand immediate marriage to action. – Brenden Francis
I’m writing today to share a story about someone who I recently met on-line and is very inspirational to me at this time in my life.
Several months ago, when I began my weight loss “journey” I joined a website called myfitnesspal.com (check it out, it’s like “facebook for people who want to lose weight/get healthy–and it’s free!). This site and my MFP (myfitnesspal) “friends”, Overeater’s Anonymous, family, and friends have supported me all along. And while there is still a ways to go for me, one of my MFP friends is near the end of her weight loss journey, but still has surgery ahead of her so she can be where she so certainly deserves to be with her body/weight. She has overcome and THRIVED through emotional turmoil to naturally (exercise, weight lifting, clean food eating, etc) lose 238 lbs. I don’t want to tell her story too much myself because I don’t feel I have the right to talk about someone else’s life here–but I will share a link to her MFP blog and you can learn more about her. In her blog, I believe that you will find a true, loving, gracious, funny, and AMAZING soul as I have–and she’s only 27!! If only I could have been nearly as enlightened at that same age!–okay, enough of me whining–this is NOT about me ;o). Sarah (Namaste1983) is trying to raise the funds in order to have an upper body lift that will remove approx. 30 lbs of excess skin that is left after her extreme weight loss. Myself and many of her MFP friends are sharing her story to help Sarah get the help she needs to raise this money–just so you know this is an absolutely TRUE story. Sarah is always supportive of my journey and sends me notes of encouragement, and this week also made a plan with me to help me get motivated to move my body–we’re both walking at some point during the day and then logging onto each other’s profile to update it. Of course, I need this much more than her–but she’s giving me a way to be accountable which I so appreciate.
So…long story (come on…you know me!) short. I’d like you to help Sarah if you can and/or pass this message on to others. I think if we pass this story on, it will have a twofold effect. It will help Sarah and it will also inspire others who have weight to lose that it CAN be done–with courage and grace!
You can also check out my MFP Blog for this story–some of Sarah’s MFP friends also put her name forward to be on the Ellen show! Seriously, she’s THAT inspiring!!
Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.
